Kotari

2024

Medium- Wool, cotton, kotari, tulle fabric
Size- 25 inch x 50 inch

The work reflects on my relationship with the kotari, the traditional kitchen knife used in Assam and an object deeply rooted in domestic life. By weaving with wool, cotton, and the kotari itself, I engage with its dual presence, as a functional tool and as a vessel of memory. The absence of the knife in the second photograph mirrors how certain practices and tools, once central to my everyday life, have gradually receded with time and distance. Through this interplay of presence and absence, the work gestures towards the fragile connections between objects, memory, and belonging.
